Pretty good, but not perfect By Raymond Brunelle
I travel extensively, at least one return airplane trip per week. I always carry on a bag. I have purchased Tumi, Delsey and this is my first Travelpro. The Delsey fits the best on the plane since the top of the bag is tapered and it the 22 inch fits nicely even in the first class bin. However its wheels wore out quickly and after buying two in three years I decided to change and bought this Travelpro. It is better built then my Delsey. The wheels which are a key component to me, have bearings and are solid rubber. They are also changeable by the user and the parts are available online. I feel there are three problems with this bag. First, it is about 1/2 a inch too long. It is a very tight fit in the economy bins. If you expand it or fill the outside pocket, it becomes very difficult to fit in in the bin. Even empty you will have to push hard on the door of the bin to close it. The next issue is the extra bag attachment. I use that all the time. On this bag it is a push button rather than a clip. The strap length changes constantly so you have to fiddle with it every time you attach your bag and I am doubtful that the push button release will last very long. Lastly, there is no small top facing pouch on the outside for your toiletry bag. Many airports still make you remove this and the only choices on this bag are the document pouch (too small) or the large outer pouch which goes all the way to the bottom (too big)

I have been a 25+ year user and fan of Andiamo luggage. When my rollerboard of nearly 10 years finally gave out, I found myself looking for a new brand of luggage after Andiamo went out of business in 2009. I know a number of airline pilots who have had decent experiences with Travelpro luggage, wanted an expandable suitcase, so I decided to buy this model. Overall, the luggage is reasonably built. I did find the handle to be a bit loose, and was surprised the corners were covered in fabric (which will likely wear and tear more easily over time) and not plastic. However, the suitcase is too big to fit in most overheads either wheels in or handle in - most of the time I have had to put it sideways, which is unacceptable. The wheels and the small feet on the bottom of the suitcase seem to stick out too far. After 6 months, I have replaced it with a Victorinox Mobilizer 20 X, which is an outstanding piece of luggage. Extremely well built, expandable and, at 20", fits in overhead bins! My wife has already put it on her wish list. My Travelpro Platinum 6 22" expandable is collecting dust and will soon be handed off to one of my children who will likely use it as checked luggage.Warning - bag is larger than advertized on Travelpro website By Artusi
I am totally unhappy with my first experience with Travelpro luggage.
I purchased this case 6 months ago, and since travelled ~100,000 miles on numerous routes, different carriers and virtually every aeroplane model. THE BAG IS TOO BIG !
I have to slide it in sideways, taking up the space of two carry ons. OR I get embarassed by the flight crew demanding I have to haul it all the way back to the front and check the bag, causing me inconvienience and delay.
The Travelpro website specifies the bag as 14 X 9 X 22 = 45 inches, which is equal to the IATA carry on maximum size. This is the reason I selected the bag. I measured the empty (unexpanded) bag to be 14.5 X 10.5 X 23 = 48 inches. = too big and therefore not fit for purpose. And to confirm, it does not fit into ANY of the 'try your bag' gauges at EVERY airport I've been to.
Plus I see that Amazon have (impressively) made their own specification as 24 x 15 x 10 inches.
So here we have a bag advertized as a 22 inch carry on, and specified as 24 inches. Confusing eh?
If it was truly 22 inches, and so would fit into the overhead bins, end-on, as designed, I would LOVE THIS BAG. Everything about it is solid, with a heavy-duty over-engineered feel to it.
