Have a set of the original Atlantic Compass series of luggage for my self, and bought this as part of a set for my wife. I think the original series uses slightly heavier fabric, but overall I am still very happy with his piece. I think it is really wonderful quality luggage for the price. I also looked at Samsonite, but considering the price difference I could get two of these pieces for one of those, so I would say I'm much better off here!0 of 0 Fantastic Luggage By me right here
I own older Atlantic suitcases but smaller pieces. So I purchased this new larger one to match, as I was traveling for 2 months to various climates. I loved this luggage. The quality is excellent as flying on 8 different planes, having my luggage exposed to all sorts of torture going in and out of baggage compartments, handlers, and claim drops can take it's tolls. The newer fabric handled the experience without much wear and tear. One of the older ones did pretty well, but was ripped a bit on a corner. (and the older ones had endured quite a few trips to Europe prior to this). So, overall, the newer fabric quality is quite good.
