good low cost suitcase By K. Lake
I bought this thing for a trip to Europe. I spent 6 weeks traveling around Germany and Italy and had this with me most of the time. I normally take less stuff than this but we were visiting relatives and had to carry a lot of gifts to Europe, and then the relatives gave us stuff and I had to bring all of that stuff back.
The point is that I had this bag filled with really heavy stuff, and drug it around on European trains and then checked to home. It carried a lot of stuff, and offered no problems at all. The zippers continued to work, the wheels continued to roll, the handles stayed on, it was just great. And the cost was low.
My thought at the time was that if it survived this one trip, it would have been worth the cost, but it came home completely intact and is ready to go again. What more could anyone ask?

I've purchased the expensive department store luggage and I've purchased this and other low priced luggage. After using both I can say they all seem to be made using the same fabrics and hardware. I suppose they all come from the same factories in China.
In my experience, they all fail eventually....usually something associated with the telescoping handle. Either the handle "rods" get bent from rough handling or the internal mechanism fails. The push button handle latch is also a weak design but no matter how much I pay it's always the same. I've re-engineered and repaired many of these handles to get a few more trips out of them. Failure is inevitable but I only hope to get a few years out of them and no matter what price I pay, that's what I get.
Forget "400 denier", "600 denier" or "Super Duper" fabric. It's meaningless since I've never had a case fail due to the fabric type. It's the hardware, plain and simple. In my opinion, all hardware comes from the same manufacturers so forget the rest.
So, do yourself a big favor and buy this Traveler's Choice Amsterdam 25in. upright. Don't get conned by the department stores and their HUGE mark-ups.Luggage By Traveler
