Poor Quality By V. Strain
The first time I used this suitcase, one of the zipper pulls was torn off. The second time I used it, the main handle pulled out of the plastic casing. The metal portion of the handle was not secured to the suitcase. The weight in the suitcase was only 43 pounds and it is large enough for substantially more weight then this. The handle came apart,not through rough baggage handling, but when I started to pick it up to load it in the car. The loss of the handle rendered the suitcase unusable and I returned it. The size of the bag seems to be designed for heavy loads, but the quality does not even allow for the standard 50 pound load.If you plan to fly a lot, this bag will not last. By joenofsky
I've used this bag for less than six months. It has suffered 2 broken-off zipper pulls, a snapped-off base/foot piece, and now a jammed extension handle. For a >$200 price tag, this bag should be sturdier. I usually pack it with about 40-45 pounds of belongings, so it is not overloaded (from the airline's perspective). I bought TravelPro because of its reputation among professional travelers, but am very disappointed with the poor quality of this item. While I am sure Travelpro makes a premium product, this 28" expandable rollaboard suiter is just too bulky and far too heavy for today's traveler. It is a dinosaur during these times when luggage weight is highly restricted. Even when packed lightly, it can easily exceed the 50 pound weight restriction placed upon single bags by most airlines. My own experience on a recent trip to Europe was a case in point. I was surprised to learn that my bag weighed in at 52 pounds! Faced with a potential penalty of $125.00, I raced through the airport and purchased a second piece of luggage and re-distributed my belongings between the 2 bags. Fortunately, I was traveling international business class and was allowed to check 2 bags. It was not an easy task managing 2 pieces of luggage through the remainder of a long trip. A lighter, smaller bag is a much better option! I cannot imagine any scenario where such a bulky, heavy bag is useful.
