I travel regularly and tend to abuse my luggage. This sturdy bag has stood up well. Pack it up and it still slips into the airline overheads. Some airlines have roomy enough overheads that this one can go in lengthwise (handle sticking outward) and the compartment door can still close. Fits well even when the expanded section is at max and I got stuff jammed into the outside zippered compartments.
Definitely not the best on carpet I suppose - are any? And in those situations I often have to pull it like a two wheeler when navigating carpet and similar high resistant surfaces. It is not well balanced for two wheel use (heavy on the handle), but passable and the ease of the four wheel capability when the surface is right makes up for the drag times. Have found it to be rugged and stands up well to being lifted by the extended handle when navigating steps or escalators. Using the short handle, I snatch it hard out of the overhead bins and the handle is still firmly attached. After a year of heavy use, this case is still "like new". I admit I am careful about the wheels. I won't bang the bag over uneven bricks, or other gapped surfaces and I keep it out of the dirt. Wheels are the weakest part of any bag and most critical, so I try to take care of them - on any bag.
One tip: I like the handle on the bottom. Really makes handling in and out of car trunks and around the house and hotel rooms much easier. Always buy luggage like this with handles on the bottom - you will be glad you did.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON SPINNER WHEEL SUITCASES! They work great only on perfectly flat areas: hardwood, vinyl, concrete. They cannot negotiate any other kind of surface found in the real world such as commercial & regular carpet, tile, cobble stone, dirt and uneven sidewalks where you will have to carry them or risk breaking the wheels off. Save your money and buy the sturdier 2-wheeled suitcase with a tried and true track record. Buy them on sale at your local department store and save yourself alot of time, hassle and money which is not the case with Samsonite.com online. This has been a very expensive lesson for me -- $83 in return shipping flushed down the toilet!
